Megaplex 17 at Jordan Commons is like a movie theater on steroids. The immense THX certified complex offers stadium seating, leather armchairs, an IMAX theater, and concessions stands that serve a full range of fare like nachos and pizza. There are several family friendly restaurants within the theater complex like the Mayan that offer economical dinner and a movie packages. But my favorite event at Megaplex 17 has to be Movies for Moms, a screening of a G, PG or PG-13 movie that happens mid mornings on Mondays. Mothers are invited to bring their infants or toddlers into the theater in strollers or carriers and enjoy the company of other Moms during the movie without having to worry over interrupting the viewing with your fussing six month old. The lights are dimmed but not off, the sound is lowered, and kids under 5 are FREE. There are occasionally prize giveaways and kid entertainment before the movie viewing as well. This is a great event for new Moms, who may feel like they're under house arrest the first couple months. There are several theater chains that offer similar events so check with the megaplex complex near you for a schedule.
