Enjoy an afternoon at the Getty Villa in Malibu, CA with plenty of indoor and outdoor fun!

Entering the museum is quite a treat, as you arrive at the top of a classical outdoor theater and walk down stairs to the open-air entry pavilion. My children, ages 3-11yrs, and I joined an interactive multimedia tour, led by a museum docent. As we walked through the outdoor gardens and inner galleries, we learned interesting facts about Greek and Roman culture.

On our own we viewed "The Greeks on the Black Sea" exhibit, antiquities on loan from the Hermitage, where the children enjoyed the roman numbers in the marble floor as much as the artifacts under glass. Because of the open layout, the Getty Villa is a great venue for all ages. For those with shorter attention spans, it is easy to tour an indoor gallery, skip outside through a scented garden, find another gallery, eat a snack in the outdoor cafe, tour another garden, enjoy a 20 minute video, tour another gallery...

We're all looking forward to a return visit :-)

Parking is $8.00 and admission is FREE. Tickets for the museum must be "purchased" in advance. See http://www.getty.edu/visit/ for details.
